Was it a Good Day or a Bad Day?

Today was a bit of both. I had an early morning company class, and I was cutting it a bit close (I got up early, but I should have left a bit sooner…). Naturally, the Chuo Express Line was about 10 minutes late, but the Sobu Local Line was not. (I work for an English Language Company. Their headquarters is in Ichigaya, so I often go there. The company where I taught this morning is a very large printing company. Their headquarters is also in Ichigaya. I teach some classes at my company in Ichigaya, but they also send me out to various schools, companies, and organizations. When I go to Ichigaya, I usually take the Chuo Line, because it is much faster. Unfortunately, the Chuo Line doesn’t stop at Ichigaya, so I usually take it to Yotsuya, one stop before, and transfer to the Sobu Line.) Since the Sobu Line was not late, they didn’t hand out excuse slips to prove the train had made us late. I suppose I could have asked for one if it had been that critical. At any rate, I was a couple minutes late. My students didn’t mind, but it was not a great way to start my day.

But things got much better after that. I took a few pictures after my company class. I planned on taking a bunch of pictures, but the battery on my Canon died (I haven’t charged it since I got it a couple weeks ago, so that is pretty good!) I was hoping my night company class would be cancelled as it often is, because I wanted to come home early. But I didn’t get an email on my phone, letting me know I could go home early, so I went to the company. I always wait in the lobby for someone to come and get me, because the classroom always changes. But after waiting for 20 minutes, I decided to call my company. Apparently, the scheduler had forgotten to send me an email, so they told me I could go home. I will get paid for that class.

On the one hand, I wish I could have gotten home earlier, especially since it started to rain (brr!) and I didn’t have my umbrella. But on the other hand, I got paid to stand in the lobby and study Chinese. And I am home now…so was it a good day or a bad day? I have to say it was a good day!

As a special treat, I stopped at the video shop, and picked up a couple DVDs (the old “Bewitched” show!) They are getting more and more American TV shows, both new and classic, so that is fun. I rarely rent videos these days, so I am gonna sneak in an episode or two tonight before I head off to dreamland.
