More Evidence that I’m No Longer 13.

a fast car in the slow lane. These pictures I took in Ichigaya, on the way to a company class, really made me think about how my priorities and values have changed. When I was younger, I loved sports cars–especially Ferraris. I always dreamed of racing down the Autobahn in a Testarossa or a Lamborghini. But I have changed. I still think they are beautiful cars. I still think they would be fun to drive (if I learned how!). But I would never own one.

For one thing, they are too wasteful. They guzzle gas and they are impractical. Look at this car. It is meant for the open road, or for a race track. It is such a waste in Tokyo, where gas is expensive, and the roads are…well, not usually open! ;)

Does this mean I am getting old? Too practical? I don’t know. Part of me still wants to drive one of these. Under the right conditions, it must be an incredible thrill. But the practical side of me knows they are a waste, and bad for the environment. I guess I am young enough to admire the sleek design and the roar of the motor; but old enough to shake my head at the poor gas mileage and environmental irresponsibility of driving such a car in the city.

Then again, this is all just speculation now, since I couldn’t afford one anyway. It would be more meaningful if I could afford one, but chose not to. :-P I guess I’d better keep working!
