Hotel New Otani

I wrote yesterday that I sometimes teach at the Hotel New Otani, near Yotsuya Station, in Tokyo. This was the headquarters for Osato Chemicals in the 1967 James Bond film, You Only Live Twice.

Since my high school had a Sports Day event, I didn’t have to go. Instead, I met a friend for lunch (Korean..YUM!) and then I headed to the hotel to teach my student. But since I was a bit early, I took a few pictures. You can see them in my “四ツ谷 - Yotsuya” photoset on Flickr.

This hotel was built for the 1964 Olympics. But there are many other branches across Japan, as well as in other countries like China and the US. I teach private lessons to members of a spa. Let’s just say some of the members are well-known, and all of them are wealthy. I usually feel a bit underdressed.
