I went to Yokohama today. Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan, and it is very close to Tokyo. I took a bunch of pictures. Here just a couple. I’ll put up more soon. It sure was nice to go out and take pictures again! (For that matter, it was nice to be able to walk easily. My leg continues to improve.)

I wonder how Santa had time to ride around Yokohama with his friends…?

I shot this picture as I was approaching Takadanobaba Station, in Tokyo, Japan. (Click on the picture to see a bigger version.)
BTW, I have a whole photoset on Flickr devoted to pictures taken from moving trains, and I update it often…So check it out!

This is a noodle shop sign in front of Takadanobaba Station, Tokyo.
I didn’t expect to be offline so long (again). More on that later. I have to get some sleep.

I took this picture a few days ago, but just uploaded it tonight. Beauty like this can catch you in the most unexpected times and places. It was just a routine evening. I was returning home from another day at work. As I got off the crowded train at Ogikubo Station, I noticed the sky was purple. I walked out of the station, and took a picture of the sunset.
It was sprinkling lightly, so I guess the sunlight was hitting the raindrops just right (yes, the sky really was this purple.)
This is the opposite side of the station from where I live, but I often come here. (You can see my video shop, Tsutaya, to the right). As always, you can click on the picture to see a larger version.

I’m busy getting ready for another round of tests at my high school. (Uggh…be nice, Andrew…) Ok. Anyway, I will do my best to post, but I might not have much time to write for the next couple days…
For now, check out this picture. I thought it was interesting. I took it in Mitaka, when I was on my way to teach a group of students there.

My high school is near Tamagawa Station, in the outskirts of Tokyo. To get there, there are two options: The Seibu Line (run by a private company that also owns a baseball team and a number of stores and other interests), and a monorail. I usually take the Seibu Line.
Today, as I was walking down the stairs from the station, I saw another train coming. I thought it might make an interesting shot, so I hurried back up to the top of the stairs and took this shot. The way it was running next to that car, it reminded me of a race. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry, so I didn’t hang around. I wonder who won.

On Friday, I went to my college in Saitama Prefecture. I was really glad to see the mountains from the train on the way up there. I didn’t take any pictures on the train, because I was sitting down, and there too many people standing by the door. (When I take pictures on the train, it is usually when I am standing by one of the doors.) But it was very beautiful.
I took these pictures from my college after my first class. It was already around noon, so they were not as visible as they had been a couple hours before.

This is one of those pics that I will really look at and smile as I think back on my time in Japan someday…

Some days are grayer than others…

Waiting for the train at Sendagaya Station, Tokyo, Japan.
I actually took this picture last week (5/24/07). It was a decent color picture, but it was destined for grayscale…I have been very interested in black and white photography lately. I hope you like it.
It is a part of my ongoing photoset, Shades of Gray.

I often go to Mitaka, but I haven’t been to this museum. It is really famous. I thought this bus was interesting….a bit of Halloween in May!

As I’m sure you know, I take lots of pictures of trains and train stations. They are a huge part of my life. I don’t take the bus very much, but I have started taking more pictures of them recently.
I’ll write more tomorrow. I have posted a lot of pictures recently, including a set of pictures from Ikebukuro in Tokyo. I hope you enjoy them.
